The claim process

How a roof insurance claim works, step by step.

From the storm to the finished roof, here's exactly what happens and what you should expect — including the parts most contractors leave out.

Insurance estimate review

We check the adjuster's estimate so you're not underpaid.

Experienced inspectors

They know exactly what hail and wind damage looks like.

200+ Ohio roofs installed.

  1. Step 1

    Free roof inspection (Day 0)

We arrive within 48 hours of your call. Experienced inspector documents every slope, photographs hail strikes and wind damage, and writes a carrier-grade scope. You get the report in writing — no obligation.

  2. Step 2

You file the claim (Day 1–3)

If damage qualifies, you open the claim with your carrier using our documentation — photos, a detailed scope, and a written assessment you can hand them. You stay in control of the claim the whole way; we're not adjusters and don't act on your behalf.

  3. Step 3

    The adjuster's inspection (Day 7–21)

Your carrier sends a field adjuster to inspect. We can be on the roof at the same time so damage is documented mutually and photos are agreed on. This step matters — homeowners who go it alone often miss thousands in legitimate scope.

  4. Step 4

Estimate review & missing items (Day 21–35)

The carrier issues an initial estimate. We compare it to our inspection and flag missing line items — code upgrades, ice-and-water shield, drip edge, ridge vent, decking — with photo backup, so you can ask the carrier to add them. Most claims see one or two rounds.

  5. Step 5

Final approval & material order (Day 30–45)

Once scope is approved, your insurance carrier issues an ACV (actual cash value) check. We schedule installation. Material is ordered to spec — color, brand, grade.

  6. Step 6

    Roof installation (1–2 days)

Tear-off, decking inspection, full system replacement. Most homes are done in one day, larger or complex roofs in two. We document everything for the depreciation release.

  7. Step 7

    Depreciation release (Day 50–60)

We submit completion photos and the final invoice to the carrier. The carrier releases the depreciation portion they held back. You sign your deductible to us. Roof is paid for. Claim is closed.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to questions Ohio homeowners ask before scheduling an inspection.

  • Do you file my roof insurance claim for me?+

No — you file with your insurance company, which keeps you in control of your policy. We give you the documentation to file with, and we review the carrier's estimate once it comes back.

  • Are you public adjusters?+

No. We're licensed roofing contractors, not public adjusters. We inspect honestly, document the damage, and review your insurance estimate so you can catch anything that was missed.

  • What does it cost to have my estimate reviewed?+

Nothing — the inspection and the estimate review are both free, with no obligation to file or to hire us for the work.

  • Will the carrier deny a claim if I have damage?+

Carriers can deny claims for many reasons — wear-and-tear classification, prior unrepaired damage, missed deadlines. Thorough documentation up front reduces that risk.

  • How long does the claims process take?+

Typical Ohio hail/wind claims close in 30–60 days from inspection to roof installation. Complex claims can take longer.
